Basic Description

LDX Solutions – Lundberg is seeking a Chemical Engineer Project Manager to join our growing company. LDX Solutions – Lundberg has nearly 80 years of experience helping our customers meet process improvement, energy reduction, and environmental compliance requirements for a wide range of industrial processes. As a Project Manager with LDX Solutions – Lundberg, you will become an integral part of the experienced team that our clients can rely on.

Responsibilities

  • Manage capital projects in the Pulp & Paper Industry from preliminary design, through project start up.
  • Development of Process and Instrumentation Diagrams
  • Equipment sizing calculations and mechanical drawing
  • Development of process control strategies
  • Specification of valves, instrumentation, piping, etc.
  • Obtain quotations from qualified vendors and procure custom fabricated equipment
  • Startup of process systems
  • Field troubleshooting to optimize performance
  • Review of equipment drawings
  • Communicate effectively with customers, suppliers and management
  • Willingness to travel to industrial job sites throughout the world
  • Ability to meet with suppliers and customers globally
  • Understand Process Flow Diagrams (PFD’s) and Piping and Instrument Diagrams (P&ID’s)
  • Understand General Arrangement Drawings for process equipment (GA’s)
  • Understand Mechanical fabrication and metal process equipment, including ASME vessels or light industrial equipment.

Qualifications 

  • BSChE, BSME or Pulp and Paper Science degree with 5+ years relevant project engineering or management experience.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to organize and prioritize multiple tasks
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Self-driven

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with kraft pulp mill desirable.
  • Black liquor evaporator experience desirable
  • Knowledge of OSHA standards as applicable to Industrial Equipment

Senior Project Manager

Location: Redmond, WA

Basic Description

This position reports to the LDX Solutions  (Lundberg) – Seattle Engineering Manager and shall be responsible for all aspects of Project Management, understanding the requirements and scope of the project, as well as being able to plan, prioritize and perform all project management activities in an effective, cost efficient manner, to include preparing budgets, identifying resources, and determining timelines.

Responsibilities

  • Develop, lead and execute purchasing strategies, policies, and procedures
  • Facilitate timely execution of work and prioritization of such work through effective management of purchasing department resources
  • Vendor Management and adherence to delivery schedule-include constant review of open and future equipment orders
  • Ensure vendor compliance to company expectations and requirements, monitor compliance with purchasing policies
  • Review open jobs and customer commitments (milestones)
  • Track and report key functional metrics to reduce expenses and improve effectiveness
  • Craft negotiation strategies and close deals with optimal terms
  • Partner with stakeholders (project management /accounting) to ensure clear requirements documentation
  • Forecast price and market trends to identify changes of balance in buyer-supplier power
  • Perform cost and scenario analysis, and benchmarking
  • Assess, manage and mitigate risks
  • Seek and partner with reliable vendors and suppliers
  • Develop and maintain strategic relationships with key vendors
  • Determine quantity and timing of deliveries
  • Monitor and forecast upcoming levels of demand
  • Logistical planning and execution, including estimation of more complex projects
  • Provide estimating support to sales for projects in quoting stage, as required
  • Administer and oversee spare parts and aftermarket work for Process Systems

Qualifications 

  • Education: Bachelor degree in engineering, science, or technology.
  • 10-15 years of experience on Engineering, Engineering and Procurement (EP), and Engineering Procurement and Construction (EPC) Projects ranging in size from $100,000 to $25,000,000.
  • Proven experience at leading a cross functional teams to success deliver a project on time, on budget and on spec.
  • Pulp and paper, chemical processing, wood products, industrial and/or utility industry experience.
  • Experience in design, build, and operations of pulp and paper, chemical processing, wood products, industrial and/or utility facilities.
  • Able to travel in order to support work activities – up to 40%.  

Preferred Qualifications

  • Education: B.S. in Mechanical or Chemical Engineering
  • Certification in Project Management
